This material was purchased by the Library from David J. Holmes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 4, 1990.

Scope and Content Information

There are four items, 1929, 1945, 1948, and n.d., pertaining to Frances Parkinson Keyes. An autograph letter, dated April sixth [1929], from Keyes to "My dear Mrs. White" concerns an open house for "the benefit of Kenmore" and seeks assistance from the recipient. There was, at this time, a strong campaign to raise money for the restoration of "Kenmore," the Lewis family home in Fredericksburg, Virginia, which was built by Lewis Fielding for his wife, Betty Washington, ca. 1752. Keyes was apparently one of the regents of the Kenmore Association. There is also an invitation for dinner on November 18, [1948], to celebrate the publication of Keyes' novel Dinner at Antoine's , given by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Alciatore at Restaurant Antoine in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition, there are two printed personal Christmas greetings, [1945] and n.d., from Keyes. One is addressed to Senator and Mrs. White [possibly Wallace Humphrey White, Jr. and Nina L. (Lunn) White].
