The books and notes were purchased by the University of Virginia Library from Robert Dale Judy, Greenville, Wisconsin, on April 28, 1960.
This collection consists of two undated handwritten notes by James Monroe removed from Gaspard de Real de Curban's La Science de Gouvernement (McGregor A 1762.R43) formerly part of Monroe's library, concerning education and types of government assemblies. Transcriptions of the two notes are available.
