Papers of Robert Poore Valentine, Accession #3641-g, Special Collections Dept., University of Virginia Library, Charlottesville, Va.
The papers were given to the library by Thomas Hickman of Charlottesville, Virginia, through K. Edward Lay at the School of Architecture, on February 25, 1985.
This collection contains business papers, printed materials, and a photograph pertaining to Charlottesville businessman Robert Poore Valentine (1852-1928). They include a railroad shpping agent's receipt book, a photograph of the Wood-Wertenbacker house on South Street, a catalogue of Westinghouse Street railway components, some printed religious material, and a paper, ca. 1889, apparently written by Valentine, outlining the plans of the Development Company of Charlottesville to sell lots on 182 acres between the city and the Woolen Mills.
