This collection was given to the Library on November 30, 1987, by Mrs. Robert L. Tucker of Rogers, Arkansas, Mrs. Alvin Bell of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Judge Lincoln Maupin Cummings of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Mrs. W. H. Webster of Monroe, Louisiana, and Mrs. Cyrene Jongeward of Rogers, Arkansas.
This collection of legal and business papers of Dr. Richard Snow Maupin of Rockingham County, Virginia, contains sixty items, 1816, and 1835-1857. These papers consist of tax receipts, a bill of sale, receipts, accounts, a bond, and two physician's licenses issued to Dr. Maupin.
Of particular note are a bill of sale for a female slave, Nancy, belonging to Jane E. Williams (June 27, 1816) and the physician licenses belonging to Dr. Maupin (August 2, 1852 and June 19, 1854).
