Acquisition Information

This collection was transferred to the Special Collections Archives from the Office of the Dean of Students, Peabody Hall, University of Virginia, through Rhonda F. Saunders on February 3, 2005.

Scope and Content

This collection consists of the papers from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (formerly Dean of Students), ca. 12,000 items (40 Hollinger boxes, ca. 17 linear feet), ca. 1968-1970 and 1980- 2005, the administrative files of Dean of Students Robert T. Canevari, Associate and Assistant Deans of Students Ronald J. Stump and Michele Samuels, Senior Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Life Shamim Sisson, Assistant Dean for Latino/Hispanic Students Pablo J. Davis, Assistant Deans for Asian Pacific America Programs Glenna C. Chang, Ajay T. Nair, and Daisy P. Rodriguez.

The papers include reports, correspondence, memoranda, budgets, manuals, surveys, membership lists, events calendars, handouts, sample packets for students, and some printed material.

The collection also contains eight computer diskettes (Disks 0322--0322-g) labeled with catch words such as "Family weekend," "Peer Advising and Family Network," "T-shirt," "APA," "PAFN Brochure" and "Hispanic Student Survey 1994."

These papers came from the Dean of Students Office grouped into eight series and these series were maintained:
