Historical Information

The McGuffey Art Center is located in the former historic McGuffey elementary school building in downtown Charlottesville. It was established in 1975 and is one of the oldest artist-run copperative art centers in the country.

Scope and Content

This is a printed scrapbook of the McGuffey Art Center, 1975-2005, and features newspaper clippings and images of the artists-in-residence. Also included are photocopies of floorplans of the building, and a report, "Perspective for a preliminary draft outlining the history of the McGuffey school building, Charlotteville, Va., 1916-2006" compiled by Richard Thrift.
