Scope and Content Information

Jenings describes changes in the appearance of Williamsburg since he last visited. The town is "much inlarged {sic} and {has} a prospect for being a useful Town...The inhabitants living more decent after the English manner & in the Country plentifull {sic} & in Peace." Jenings refers to the dispute between Auditor General {Phillip Ludwell} and Governor {Alexander Spotswood} and offers himself as a replacement for Ludwell should Blathwayt desire him. Written from Ripon Hall, York County (Va.).
