Scope and Content

Extends his condolences on the death of Capt. William Meriwether's son. The legislature in Williamsburg has been busy. Laws pass ed include acts to divide Fincastle County into Kentucky, Washington, and Montgomery counties, Fincastle becoming extinct, and to form Henry County from part of Pittsylvania. |Tho mas! Jefferson has proposed that the seat of government be moved from Williamsburg to Richmond; the people of Williamsburg are in fear of enemy attack. Measures are being taken to assure that delegates attend the sessions, as attendance has been very poor. Is trying t o sell William's tobacco, perhaps to {Carter} Braxton or {John} Norton.
