These items came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of court records from Pulaski County in accession 436842.
Historical Information
Pulaski County was named for Count Casimir Pulaski, the Polish patriot who served in the American army during the Revolutionary War and who was killed during the siege of Savannah in 1779. It was formed from Montgomery and Wythe Counties in 1839. Part of Wythe County was added to Pulaski in 1862.
Scope and Content
Pulaski County (Va.) Fiduciary Records, 1839-1919, include miscellaneous records filed in a local court by trustees, administrators, executors, guardians, and committees that related to the performance of their duties managing a person's estate. These records typically include the following; bonds, appraisements, audits, inventories, accounts, estate divisions, settlements, dowery records, etc. Information related to enslaved people are commonly found in these records.
This collection includes Probates; Administrators' and Executors' Bonds; Register of Fiduciaries; List of Fiduciaries; and an Order Book containing Fiduciary Records.
