Wythe County was formed in 1789 from Montgomery County. Part of Grayson County was added in 1825.

Records, 1881, of Wythe County (Va.) Circuit Court consist of a verdict delivered in the criminal case the Commonwealth of Virginia versus Neill Criger. Criger was convicted of petit larceny.
