Historical Information

The act which established the previous Land Office next hit passed the General Assembly on 22 June 1779. The register was the head of the Office and was appointed by joint ballot of both houses of the legislature.

Scope and Content

These records contain exchange warrants Nos. 2107-2114 are described on this list signed by Charles Blagrove. Columns list the individual to whom the exchange warrant was issued, his place of residence, the number of the warrant given in exchange, the acreage, and the description of the warrant exchange which includes to whom it was issued, on what right, the warrant number, the acreage, and the date. Item covers the period from 1810 Feb 1 to 1810 Aug 1.

The grantees include Robert Crawford of Rockbridge County, George Hairston of Henry County, Roger Bell of Orange County, James Drummight of Mecklenburg County, James Ware of Amherst County, Benjamin Grigsby of Norfolk, John Paxton of Rockbridge County, and the heirs of Samuel Young of Mecklenburg.
