These items came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of court papers from Cumberland County. A portion of the records were transferred under Accession number 41663.
Historical Information
Cumberland County was named for William Augustus, duke of Cumberland, third son of George II. It was formed from Goochland County in 1749. Its area is 298.5 square miles, and the county seat is Cumberland.
