This box came to the Library of Virginia in a transfer of records from Warren County.

Historical Information

Warren County was named for Joseph Warren, of Massachusetts, the Revolutionary War patriot who sent Paul Revere and William Dawes on their famous rides. He was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill. The county was formed from Shenandoah and Frederick counties in 1836.

Scope and Content

Warren County (Va.) Records, 1929-1940, consist of the following series: Court Records and Organization Records. Judge William G. Olmstead's notes, correspondence, legal documents, etc., related to Warren County Chancery Cause Board of Supervisors of Warren County, etc. vs. Adms. of Arthur L. Warthen, etc., and Aetna Casualty and Surety Company vs. Adms. of Arthur L. Warthen, etc. (1929-1940).
