Biographical / Historical
Samuel M. Bowman (1851-1901) was a reverend in the Methodist Church and teacher at the Pine Church School in Shenandoah County. Pine Church School was located along what is now S. Middle Rd. (Rt. 614) in Mt. Jackson.
Scope and Contents
One bound record book kept by Samuel M. Bowman, teacher at the Pine Church School in the Ashby District of Shenandoah County. The volume lists students' names, ages, and their attendance records from 1881-1882. Students' surnames present in the book include Barb, Fadley, Foltz, Funkhouser, Hausenfluck, Hottel, Neff, Overholtz, Pennywitt, Rinehart, Rinker, Schaeffer, Silvius, Swartz, Tisinger, Will, Wolfe, Zirkle, and others.
