Biographical / Historical

Richard Lewis last will and testament for his wife Ann, son, John Lewis in the service of the United States of America, and daughters Elizabeth, Ann, Hannah, and Mary. He owns land and businesses in Fauquier County, Falmouth, Fredericksburg, and Baltimore. Executors were Joseph Blackwell, William Allison, William Fitzhugh james Buchanan, Thoamas Hoard, John Strode, Charles Yates, Francis Thornton Falls, and James Brown.

Scope and Contents

Richard Lewis, a wealthy and influential land owner in Northern Virginia, left instructions in his will about his land and that four "Negro girls" be purchased and divided by lot among his daughters, 0.03 cubic feet, 1777.
