Biographical / Historical
Ralph H. Whitacre served with the 275th Infantry, 70th Division. He was inducted September 13, 1944, trained in Maryland and South Carolina, arrived in England and then France in February, 1945. He fought in Germany from March 1945 to the war's end, and remained on occupation duty in Germany until September, 1945. He was from a farm in Siver, Virginia.
Scope and Contents
Ralph H. Whitacre World War II correspondence, 1944-1945, .08 cubic feet, to his family and includes letters from his friends and some military and insurance papers. Included is one issue of the Trailblazer Magazine Volume III, No. 4, April 5, 1945. PFC Whitaker mentions that he was right behind the front line at the capture of Saarbrucken.
