Biographical / Historical
John Hill Carter Beverley was born in 1853 in Fauquier County, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1873 and went on to be a farmer and banker. Beverley died in 1934 in The Plains, Virginia.
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of one letter (dated October 23, 1869) from Cadet John H. C. Beverley to his friend John. The letter describes life at VMI, and mentions guard duty, difficulty of studies, and the demerit system.
