Biographical / Historical
William Murray Whittle was born in 1895 in Martinsville, Virginia, and graduated VMI in 1917. He commissioned into the United States Army in August 1917, and served in World War I in France from May 1918 to end of the War. Whittle was living in Roanoke in 1942. No further information is known at this time.
Scope and Contents
The William M. Whittle papers consist of the military papers of Whittle, VMI Class of 1917. Whittle served in World War I with the United States Army, 314th Machine Gun Battalion and was sent to France in May 1918.
