Accruals

The most recent volume is located in the Office of the Registrar. When the volume is filled, it is transferred to the VMI Archives for permanent retention.


Biographical / Historical

Since the earliest days of the Institute, entering cadets have signed a matriculation book when they arrive at VMI.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of the matriculation record for incoming VMI classes. Nineteenth century books contain home address, parent or guardian name, age, and other information in addition to the signature.

The Order Book dated 1863-1865 also contains a copy of the matriculation register for 1839-1856; and original signatures for 1856-1861
