William Heaton Chapman, son of Calvin and Sarah Chapman, was born in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, on November 8, 1809. On April 8, 1834, he married Lois Ellis (1811-1898); the couple would have two daughters. William Heaton Chapman died in Cheshire County February 13, 1839.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of a single account book maintained by William H. Chapman, a farmer in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, during the early 19th century. Entries in the account book detail sales and purchases of various goods and payment for hired labor. Names mentioned include Rufus Carter, Kendall Crossfield, John Lawrence, and Philemon Wright. Beginning in 1840, the entries appear in a different hand, likely that of Calvin Chapman, who served as administrator of William Chapman's estate.
