Scope and Content
The collection consists of a letter written by William J. Scott, 60th Virginia Infantry, August 13, 1862, from Chaffin's Farm near Richmond, Virginia. Scott wrote about his desire to be home along with speculation that his regiment may be sent to join Stonewall Jackson's forces then advancing on Manassas Junction. He also describes seeing 140 Union officer prisoners on their way to being exchanged.
