Biographical Note
John Woodbridge Bosworth was a Confederate soldier in Co. H of the Virginia 31st Infantry. Bosworth mustered into the army in 1861 as a private, and by the end of the war had reached the rank of First Lieutenant. Following the war, Bosworth worked as a doctor.

Scope and Content
This collection contains a letter sent from John Woodbridge Bosworth, a Confederate soldier, to his brother. Bosworth is writing from a Union Prisoner of War Camp, where he was being held prisoner. Bosworth writes asking his brother about family members and other soldiers. Bosworth also discusses his willingness to take the Oath of Allegiance to the Union, and asks his brother to send him money. This collection also includes a typed transcript of the letter.
