Biographical note
Sallie L. Rucker, full name Sarah L. Rucker, was born in Amherst County, Virginia, around 1830. Her parents were Tabatha and Willis Rucker.

Scope and Content
The collection contains a letter written by Sallie L. Rucker on March 8, 1863, and was addressed to her Aunt Patsy and Uncle John. The letter includes updates on deceased family members including Sallie's brother John and her sister Nannie, as well as her fiance, John Howell. She writes about how the rest of the family is doing in Bedford, including her sister Matilda and mother. Collection includes a transcript of the letter.
