Scope and Content

This collection includes three small art prints of Robert E. Lee, The presidents house, and a rebel signal station in Virginia.

The print of Robert E. Lee depicts him in a navy blue coat with gold buttons, a gold blouse peaks through the closed coat. The collar of the coat is gold with three stars. Lee looks off to the left of the page. Underneath Lee is text that reads "Eng By H.B. Hall, N.Y." followed by a signature with "GENL R.E. LEE" underneath it. Text towards the bottom of the page reads "Engraved ezpressley for the Lost Cause by E. A. Pollard." The condtion is good, minor signs of age. The 'Z' is printed as stated in "Ezpressley" on the print, this is most likely a misprint of "Expressly."

The print of the presidents house shows a white home with a brown roof with large trees infront of it. People can be seen mingling in the front lawn. Beneath the image is printed ""THE PRESIDENTS HOUSE," IN WHICH GENERAL LEE DIED." The print is in good condition, minor signs of age.

The last print shows men and their horses in a lush green field, two flags fly in the background. Beneath the image is text that reads "THE WAR IN VIRGINIA- REBEL SIGNAL STATION NEAR BEVERLY FORD- FROM A SKETCH BY OUR SPECIAL ARTIST." Hand written in the bottom left corner of the print is "Oct 17 1863." The reverse side of this print shows that it was printed on a piece of newspaper, also discussing the war in Virginia. The print is in good condition, minor signs of age.
