George W. Splaine lived in Clifton Forge, Virginia, in 1936. There is no further information about the author.
Scope and Content
This collection contains a script of an unpublished novel, "The Virginia Blue Grass Trail" by George W. Splaine, which was written in 1936. The script was sent to Doubleday and Co., a publishing company in New York City, New York. Included are two letters written by George W. Splaine to the publishing company. The first letter, written May 18, 1936, was sent to establish if the company would be instrested in a novel about southwest Virginia and had a short explaination of why the novel would do well. The second letter, written June 1, 1936, was sent, with the script included, in response to a letter from the publishers asking for the full novel.
