The Local Bank Ledgers was purchased by Special Collections and University Archives in April 2011.

The processing, arrangement, and description of the Local Bank Ledgers was completed in August 2025.

Scope and Content

The collection contains two ledgers from unidentified local banks. The first has dates ranging from 1855 to 1857 and the ledger is seperated into two different books. On page 63 there is a business card attached for 'Trigg and Wharton, Real Estate Brokers.' The second ledger has dates ranging from 1851 to 1859 and lists accounts located, primarily, in southwest Virginia.
