The processing, arrangement, and description of the Montgomery County, Virginia, Civil War Bond was completed in August 2025.

Administrative Note

The bond is from Montgomery County in the state of Virginia. The county was founded by Major General Richard Montgomery and started as a part of Augusta County, which then became Fincastle. In 1776, Montgomery County was formed after Fincastle County was broken up into three counties.

Scope and Content

This collection includes a bond from Montgomery County, Virginia, to the Bank of the Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia. The bond is for $1000 at a 6% interest over the course of six years, 1864-1870.
