Mildred Poynor Bowman, b. circa 1925,  married Eldon Elwood Bowman on April 20, 1945 in Richmond, California.

Scope and Contents

Papers, 1943-1953, 1967, of Mildred Poynor Bowman, consisting of her high school year book from 1943, her wedding album and and unifinished letter, 1967.

The following information was provided by the seller:

"[The wedding album lists] parties, gifts, ancestral trees, Guests etc. The wedding was an informal affair. Mildred's fiancee was in the Navy and about to be transferred, so the wedding ceremony was performed on short notice. Guests were invited by telephone or telegraph and there was no photographer. However, the "Richmond Independant" newspaper did take a photo of the newlyweds right after the ceremony. The photo and clipping are in the album.  Mildred wrote how she met her future husband, a description of the wedding, and two pages about the honeymoon. She made entries each month about the highlights of that month for the first 12 months of their marriage. She also did the same for the first eight anniversaries, noting events such as the birth of their sons, how they celebrated their anniversary that year etc.  Inside the book under tape are some grains of rice thrown at the bride and groom, and a decorative leaf from the wedding cake. There is also a photo of Mildred and Eldon with their two young sons, as well as a separate photo of the couple when they were older."
