Handwritten document entitled "Directions from Cape Henry to Cape Fear" which gives coordinates, water depths, and descriptions of harbors and general area. Mentions Cape Lookout as a "very good harbour" and notes dangerous areas and cautions about certain approaches. Latitude and longitude coordinates are listed for these areas: Cape Hateras (sic), Ocrecock Barr (sic), Cape Lookout, Lookout Shoals, Old Topsal Inlet, Bogue Inlet, Barr Inlet, N River Inlet, Cape Fear and Shols of Frying Pan. Distances is listed for "Cape Henry to Roanoak, Roanoak to Cape Hateras, Cape Hateras to Ocrecock Barr, Ocrecock Barr to Cape Lookout, Cape Lookout to Old Topsal Inlet, Old Topsal Inlet to Bogue Inlet, Bogue Inlet to Barr Inlet, Barr Inlet to New River Inlet and New River Inlet to Cape Fear.
Cape Henry is in Virginia and is the southern boundary of the Chesapeake Bay. Cape Fear is a promontory near Wilmington, North Carolina.
