Scope and Contents
James Luther Kibler was a historian, author, newspaper correspondent and secretary of the Socialist Party in Virginia.
Scrapbooks, ca. 1920-ca. 1940, of James Luther Kibler, of Williamsburg, Va. Scrapbooks contains newspaper clippings of current events pasted onto magazine pages, mostly concerning Virginia and the history of the Williamsburg area. Includes some handwritten and typed notes as well as loose mimeographed copies of radio talks, 1942, given by Elwood Street, Director, the Richmond Community Council and Richmond Community Fund. These fourteen volumes were apparently part of a long series of scrapbooks. Location of the remaining scrapbooks is not known.
MsV Ad97B is entitled: "A Kibler Scrapbook donated to The Williamsburg City Library...a Memorial to William C. Ewing. November 1951" with a table of contents for the Yorktown Sesqui-Centennial, List of 184 Revolutionary Shrines by Kibler, Seven Virginia Executives by Squires, Gen. George Rogers Clark, William Grayson - First Virginia U.S. Senator, Bicentennial News for 1932 and Book Reviews. Includes newspaper clippings and sections of newspapers.
MsV Ad97A is entitled: "The George Washington Bicentennial News by the Alexandria Gazette 1930-1931, 1946" which includes issues of the newspaper and other newspapers.
