Conditions Governing Access

Collection is open to all researchers. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, such as the Virginia Public Records Act (Code of Virginia. § 42.1-76-91); and the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (Code of Virginia § 2.2-3705.5). Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. If sensitive material is found in this collection, please contact a staff member immediately. Biographical / Historical

James Pleasants, Jr. graduated from William & Mary in circa 1785.

Scope and Contents

Pleasants' letter states that he left two volumes of Blair's lectures with his Cousin Mary when he was last in Richmond, having been informed by his son Hampden that he would not need them during the present session at William & Mary. However, Hampden informed Pleasants that he was attending lectures on Belles Letters and that the book would be necessary but he is using a copy belonging to Joshua Storrs. Pleasants asks his cousin to send the books along to Williamsburg should anyone be heading that way.
