Immediate Source of Acquisition

Gift of Bill Brown, Caretaker of Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mss. Acc. 2012.296 was picked up from the donor by SCRC Staff on 5/23/2012.


Scope and Contents

Plat, 1897, of Cedar Grove Cemetery of Williamsburg, Virginia which was commissioned by Mayor J.L. Mercer and mapped by C.P. Armistead. Includes the layout of the four divisions of the cemetery, each of which contain either 64 or 80 numbered plots. The dimensions of each plot are also given. There are also unnumbered sections for "Confederate soldiers," "white paupers," and "colored or negro paupers."

Separated Material

Two 3.5" floppy disks labeled "Family Tree Maker" were moved from Mss. Acc. 1992.31 and were added to Series 5 of the Manuscripts Audiovisual Collection (Mss. 1.04).

A copy of the Daughters of American Revolution publication "Cedar Grove Cemetery," originally part of Mss. Acc. 1992.31, was moved to Rare Books under F234 .W7 C42.
