Biographical / Historical

George Keppel (1724-1772) was the 3rd Earl of Albemarle, 3rd Viscount Bury, and 3rd Baron Ashford. He served as a member of parliament (MP) for Chichester, West Sussex, England. Keppel also served as Keeper and Governor of Jersey, commander of the 20th Foot, Lord of the Bedchamber to the Duke of Cumberland, and Governor of Cuba. During the Seven Years' War, Keppel served as the commander-in-chief of the invasion and then occupation of Cuba in 1762. George Keppel authorized the command of passage written during the British occupation of Cuba in September 1762.
