Biographical / Historical

Richard "Goodie" Kidd fought in the the 87th combat infantry and 347th Infantry Regiment in the Second World War (1939-1945). Kidd fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Normandy and Belgium as well as in the Mass Surrender of German Troops on May 6, 1945. Kidd was injured duirng the war suffering from frostbite. Prior to the War, Kidd was a dance teacher. Richard Kidd married Eunice Elizabeth "Bunnie" Canova and had seven children.

Content Description

Personal correspondence including a letter from Richard Kidd to "Bonnie and kids" and a citation from the United States Army signed by Lt. Col., AGD, Adjutant General, Mark Amen. Photographs contained in the collection include those that depict soldiers and life during World War II. Postcards of Germany and photographs of the Statue of Liberty circa 1945 are also included.

There is an accompanying essay written 2022 April 28 by Sydney Kidd Finneran titled "Propagation for Generations and Goodies' Gallivant throughout Germany: The Kidd Family Legacy."
