Abstract
Photograph album (7 in. X 11 1/2 in., 122 pp., 92 pp. with content) from unidentified source including photographs documenting
Morgantown subjects in the period ca. 1918-1924, as well as other subjects. Pages have been numbered to preserve original
order of pages as found; it is possible that pages 94-122 originally preceded pages 1-64. Pages 1-64 contain photographs evidently
of friends and family, including homes and cars; landscapes appear to be mostly of locations in the western United States;
page 19 contains a group portrait of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, Gamma Pi Chapter, of West Virginia University, ca. 1922, at
the Fifth District Convention, December 8-9; pages 39-52 within this sequence appear to be of southwestern locations, including
shots of Native Americans on pages 44-45. Of special interest are pictures of movie stars Jackie Coogan on pages 39 and 58,
and Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks on page 52; Rudolph Valentino is likely the subject of a photo on page 52 also. These
pictures were probably taken in the early 1920s. Pages 65-93 are blank. Pages 94-122 contain photos of subjects in the Morgantown-Fairmont
area, consisting mostly of unidentified candid shots of seemingly friends and family. Personal names appearing in this section
include Evan Lewis, George Bernard and "Mrs. Tubbs and family." Pages 102-104, and 113 contain candid shots of Company L of
the National Guard from the Fairmont-Morgantown area, including soldiers, friends, and facilities, ca. 1918. The soldiers
are apparently mobilizing for World War I. Page 112 contains a photograph of a "Morgantown-Fairmont football game," 1918.
