Abstract
The Oglebay Rhymer's Club (Wheeling, W. Va.), was established in March 1935 as a hobby club sponsored by the Oglebay Institue. The club met monthly to discuss poetry and read their own original poems. In 1942 the club became the Wheeling Poetry Society. Eight bound typescript volumes contain the original poems composed by members of the Oglebay Rhymer's Club: "Our First Harvest, 1935-1936"; "Our Second Garland, 1936-1937"; "Violets and Wild Grapes, 1937-1938"; "Our Glorious Fourth, 1938-1939"; "Our Glorious Fourth, Part II, 1938-1939"; "Our Fifth Symphony, 1939-1940"; "Western Border Lyrics, 1940-1941"; and "The Seventh Pillar, 1941-1942."
