Abstract
Collection of records from the Planning, Marketing, and Communications department of the Health Sciences Center mostly related to the dedication of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center in June 1993 with Senator Byrd in attendance. It includes photographs, planning papers, pamphlets, and motion picture material. Most of the audio-visual material documents Byrd's participation in the event. There are also a few photos of Byrd earlier in his life, and a folder on cancer awareness and the Cancer Center. There is a compact disc and VHS tape of a motion picture documentary on Senator Byrd entitled "The Soul of the Senate" (2005), and six additional VHS tapes of footage, including four of the Health Sciences Center dedication (one featuring President Bill Clinton), an interview with Byrd (undated), and a tape of West Virginia Governor Caperton discussing Senator Byrd (undated).
