Abstract
Fifteen loose leaf notebooks containing reports, memoranda, speeches, papers, and computer printouts pertaining to the state plan for West Virginia prepared by the WVU office of Research and Development, a part of the Appalachian Center. Some of the many subjects include population trends and estimates for West Virginia; economic structure in W. Va..; land development patterns in W. Va. ; water supply facilities; use of general obligation bonds ; public expenditures at the local level in W. Va.; Public expenses at the county level in W. Va.; state development; state planning; use of sub-regions in state planning; grant-in-aid programs in W. Va. ; intergovernmental relations; transportation systems and problems in W. Va. tax structure; housing problems; vocational-technical education ; health services ; Urban planning; and the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Planning division of the W. Va. Department of commerce. Those who helped to formulate the plan include Samuel Brock, Douglas Brown, Londo Brown, Robert Cauthorn, Carl Elkstrom, Eugene R. Elkins, Alan S. Komins, Maryln Lugar, Helen MacKenzie Sizer, R. H. Slavin, Harry Sleek Milton Patton, Isaac Shafran, Larry Starcher, Anthony Stocks, and Fred VanKirk.
