Biographical / Historical

The Orum family lived in what is now the United States in the early 1700s. The Orum and Eskey families lived in Sherrard, in Marshall County, WV, from the early 1800s through the early 1900s, when some family members moved to the Pittsburgh area. The Orum family farm in Sherrard was sold around 1929. The McCaffery family came to the US in 1851 and settled in Sherrard, where one member married into the Eskey family. Ruth Eskey Rice (nee Orum) was involved in the collection of family history, and her daughter Jane Leigh Rice Lassiter compiled this collection and created many of the notes within it that explain the family history and collection materials.

Scope and Contents
