Content Description
Digital copy of a ledger (8 in. x 9 1/2 in. x 2 1/2 in.) documenting the paid transfer of land in the period 1788-1810 from the state of Virginia through the Land Office to individuals in Hampshire County, Virginia. The entries in the ledger show date of entry, assignees, quantity of land in acres, and Land Office Treasury Warrant Number. These records often include named geographic features such as waterways and land features, as well as names of owners of adjoining properties. The name of "Daniel Mitchel" is recorded on the first page with the date "Jan. 1st 1790"; the title of the book is recorded on the fifth page, reading "Warrant Book, Frankfort, April 14th 1788".
