1828 holograph letter from J.A. Wharton, Stevensburg, VA to his son, John, at medical school in Philadelphia. Discusses mainly family matters and fatherly advice on managing money. Also includes entrance card to clinical lectures at University of Edinburgh dated May 14, 1805, signed by D. Rutherford for Mr. John Wharton.
