Historical Information

Gunston Hall was the home and plantation seat belonging to George Mason IV and Ann Mason. Situated in Fairfax County, VA (now officially in Lorton, VA), the building of the house began in 1754 with an English-influenced design. The house was built over four years using enslaved labor and a skilled mason, as well as an indentured servant to design the interior. Though much of the out buildings did not survive, the main home stands to this day.
