Biographical Information
According to notes provided by Schubertiade Music, David de Boschi was a 19th century Italian set designer who worked in the region of Florence on operas and ballets. Antonio Cortesi (1796-1879) was an Italian ballet dancer and choreographer of the Romantic era who worked across Europe, choreographing over 60 ballets, including "Ines de Castro" and a version of "Giselle" ("Cortesi, Antonio").
Scope and Content
The collection consists of a single set design, with color, drawn by designer David de Boschi (the lower left hand corner reads "David de Boschi fece") for a ballet. According to notes from Schubertiade, the dealer from which the item was purchased, it is probably for a ballet by choreographer Antonio Cortesi.
