Julia L. Craddock gave her father's account book to Ollinger Crenshaw while he was conducting research for his book General Lee's College: rise and growth of Washington and Lee .


Biographical / Historical

From 1870-1873 Lewis was a student at Washington and Lee University. He became a banker in Charleston, West Virginia.

Scope and Contents

This account book covers Lewis' expenses over a seventeen year period, including expenditures on room, board, clothing and other items. During the first three years he was a student at Washington and Lee University.
