Abstract
ALS from Peter Garnall of Wheeling to his nephew Mordecai Garnall of Pensacola, FL. Garnall writes extensively about the upcoming election of 1840 in which Gen. Harrison and the Whigs are expected to sweep to victory with a majority that "will exceed that of Gen. Jackson in his palmiest days." He is even expected to carry the home state, New York, of his opponent, Van Buren, with 15,000 votes. Mentions that the Wheeling area is strong in its support of Harrison and that there have been mass political meetings on the scale of several thousands.
