Biographical / Historical
Carol J. Bell was a student in the West Virginia University Medical Technology Program and graduated in May 1968 with a Bachelor of Science from the School of Medicine. Her first medical technologist position was at University Hospital of Morgantown; a few years later she went to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. In 1976, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For many years she was the liaison between CDC and hundreds of newborn screening clinical laboratories around the world. She retired in 2012 with 42 years of public service. Since her retirement, Bell has turned her interest to family history and genealogy. She has self-published two genealogy books and is a member of several history, genealogy, and preservation organizations.
Content Description
Papers of Carol J. Bell, who graduated from West Virginia University's Medical Technology Program in 1968. There are mainly items from Bell's graduation from the Medical Technology program, including an invitation to the convocation, photographs of Bell, her classmates, and family, and a graduation tassel. Also contains a research paper written by Bell, two metal pins, and Bell's certificate from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists with certification stamps from 1968 through 2012.
