Abstract
West Virginia University's chapter of the West Virginia Student Public Interest Research Group (WV-SPIRG) was a student-funded
and student-directed, non-partisan and non-profit organization dedicated to defending various areas of public interest. Miscellaneous
printed materials including petitions, flyers, a meeting agenda, and circular letters from the group document the history
of the organization and its activities in the Morgantown, West Virginia, area in the early 1970s. Topics include the history
and purpose of WV-SPIRG, support for Jay Rockefeller, voter registration, environmental issues, and student movements. Also
included is the petition for the creation of the organization.
