Biographical / Historical

Robert C. Krug came to George Mason University in 1965 and served in a variety of positions during his tenure. While at Mason Dr. Krug held the positions of Dean of the College, Dean of the Faculty and Graduate School, Provost, and Vice President for Academic Affairs. From 1977 to 1978 Dr. Krug served as president of the university, during which time he acquired the first computers to be used in the university. Krug Hall on the George Mason University Fairfax Campus is named after him.

Scope and Contents

The Robert C. Krug collection contains several newspaper clippings and other documents pertaining to significant university events during Dr. Krug's time as an administrator. Newspaper clippings are taken from regional and campus publications. Clippings were published during the 1960s and 1970s and reference plans for campus expansion, protests held on campus, graduation announcements, and a variety of other events including the participation of Dr. Krug. Some correspondence and personal notes of Dr. Krug's are also included in this collection.

Regional newspaper clippings are taken from newspapers such as the Washington Post, the Northern Virginia Sun and the Alexandria Gazette among others. Articles feature content related to Robert Krug's involvement with school affairs.This collection also includes newspaper clippings, as well as full issues, of George Mason publications the Gunston Ledger and Broadside.

Some miscellaneous correspondence, personal notes and other documents relating to Dr. Krug's tenure at George Mason, are also included.
