W. F. Massey was a professor of Botany Arboriculture at the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanics Arts, and editor of The Practical Farmer .

The collection consists of copies of correspondence to W. F. Massey from farmers, horticultural societies, and others regarding articles in The Practical Farmer . Letters date from 1893 to 1908.
