Biographical Note

William T. McDougle fought in the 2nd Brigade, 3rd Division, 6th Amry Corps for the 126th Ohio Regiment for the Union during the American Civil War. He enlisted in 1862 under Captian Mulenberg. Throughout his career as a soldier, he was invovled in numerous marches up and down the east coast, eventually making his way into Virginia. In Virginia, he fought in many battles, one of them being the Battle of Monocacy of 1864. It was a deadly battle that he barely escaped from being chased by Confederate soldiers on foot.

This collecton contains an undated typescript copy of William T. McDougle's memoir titled "Reminesces of the War", covering his experiences in the 126th Ohio Regiment of the Union Army in the American Civil War from August 1862 to March 1864. This includes his Regiment marching orders and the experience of being at the Battle of Monocacy in 1864, which is known as the battle that saved Washington, D. C.
